Wow!

All I can say is, "Wow!" What a way to close the preseason with the 49ers. Brees throws a 13 yarder to Osgood who immediately jumps into the stands as they start cheering and patting him on the back. Then the 9ers run in for a TD. We get ball back and Rivers is harrassed left and right and finds Sproles who goes 24 yards for his first NFL TD of his career. We're ahead 14-7. Wow!

Then 9ers score on a pass TD. Rivers is struggling. It seems as if his favorite receiver is Sproles. Rivers ends up throwing 2 INTs. So we come back with an INT of our own. Matt Wilhelm returns a 74 yard interception. 21-14, San Diego.. Wow!

But wait.. there's more. Fletcher is caught with a face mask and the TD is nullified. *sigh* That was a sweet INT. The 9ers get the ball back and end up scoring a TD. 21-14, 49ers. Rivers started hot and cooled off quickly after 4 bad drives.

In comes Cleo Lemon, our 3rd string quarterback. Lemon throws perfect passes to Perkins, Martin, Trusty, a run up the middle by Perkins and another toss to Morris. Lemon is spreading the ball all over. There are no favorites for him. Later on, Lemon drops back..

Fumble. 49ers ball. Man, Lemon was getting warmed up too. Anyhow, our defense picks it up and we get ball back into Lemon's hands. A big pass to Martin and a great run by Perkins gets us to the 30. Lemon drops back again, the 49ers chase him down and Lemon runs out of the pocket towards the Chargers sideline. He throws the ball down the field..

TOUCHDOWN, SAN DIEGO! That play was so beautiful, people in the press box cheered. Rule #1 in the press box: No cheering.

Lemon caught Trusty in the end zone to tie up the score, 21 a piece. Wow! We stop them on defense. Now it's our ball. Second-and-22. Lemon throws the ball to Camarillo. He gets wrapped up by one 49er..

Then Camarillo spins around and keeps on running. 2 49ers are trying to pull him down. Then 3. When it took a 4th 49er to drag him out of bounds. Wow! Just seeing this kid's tenacity was simply amazing. Later Lemon gets sacked and we punt the ball.

49ers get with scoring range, but are only able to come up with a field goal. 24-21, 49ers.

1:11 left in the game. 9ers kick the ball to Ray Perkins. He breaks a tackle, finds a hole and runs it for 48 yards! Wow! With the roster cut tomorrow, you just can't cut this kid! That run was outstanding! The crowd goes nuts!

1:00 left in game time. Lemon throws it to Trusty for 8 and another for 6. First down. San Diego is out of time outs. :37 left. Lemon spikes the ball to stop the clock. Now what's Lemon going to do?

He goes into shotgun formation to give himself some space from the defensive line. Looks left, looks right. No one's open. Then a linebacker chases him down.

:24 left. He runs up the middle for 19 yards! He then spikes the ball to stop the clock. Second down. Lemon drops back.. :19 and counting down.. he throws the ball..

And finds Ruvell Martin as he jumps in the air, catches the ball and manages to keep the tips of his toes in the end zone. Wow!

:19 left as San Diego kicks the ball to 49ers. Some 9er catches the ball at 4 yard line. He breaks a tackle, finds a hole and accelerates. Passes most of the whole special teams unit with Nate Kaeding in the back.

He zips right by him. Touchdown. 49ers. A 96 yard kickoff return to win the game.. I can't.. Wait! There's a flag on the play! Holding on the receiving team, 10 yard penalty. Touchdown is nullified and San Diego wins at home! Wow!
